We are proud and excited to announce that local historian-writer Stephanie Ho’s latest fiction – Island Girl – has been shortlisted for the Scholastic Asian Book Award 2016!
She is one of the five shortlisted finalists, and the only Singaporean, selected from 54 entries from 11 countries.
Island Girl is set in 19th century Riau, with links to colonial Singapore. The inspiration for the story stems from Stephanie’s long-time fascination with the history, myths and legends of the archipelago.
The Award is a joint initiative between the National Book Development Council of Singapore (NDBCS) and Scholastic Asia to promote the Asian experiences of life, spirit, and thinking in Asian writings.
The winner will be announced at the Opening Ceremony of the Asian Festival of Children’s Content (AFCC) 2016 on 24 May 2016 (Tuesday).
